Hey everyone! Welcome to the 3rd installment of New Map Updates With The RWC Crew! While the prolonged silence may have you expecting more exciting builds or cool features, this devblog is a bit different. After much deliberation, we have come to the conclusion that waiting for Traincraft to be available on 1.12 is no longer viable. Though it was not an easy decision, we are eager to announce that we are redirecting focus from our 1.12 map to create a new 1.7.10 map. This devblog details our decision and what it means for the future of RailwayCraft. Why change so soon after 1.12? A little backstory on our decision: when the present map was created almost 9 years ago, we were concerned about how quickly the rewrite might come. As you may be able to tell, we’re still on that same map, meaning we’ve been waiting for the rewrite for 9 years. Last year, after the lead-dev announced he was taking a step back, things looked promising as a lot of community members were stepping forward to try and get the mod usable. However, life happened yet again and Traincraft has fallen back into a state of waiting for dev-work to be done. With the unpredictable fluctuations in development speed, we had a serious decision to make: either we continue working on a map that may never see the light of day, or we shift gears and start a new map for 1.7.10 using an already functioning version of TC. While it was a hard decision to make, we felt it’d be best for everyone at RWC — staff included — if we moved ahead with another 1.7.10 map. so what's next? It's time to start over! We finally have the opportunity to refresh the server. We get to bring you a new, better, version of RWC where ideas, culminating from a decade of waiting, are now coming to fruition. While we won’t spoil all the surprises, be assured that we’ve looked into many of the problems our current map has displayed and are working our hardest to implement changes. We’re adding new features, new mods, and improved systems to better everyone’s experience on our server. While working on the new versions of Minecraft, our development team has created plenty of fun features we want to bring back to 1.7.10. So, everything we’ve shown you in previous devblogs — except for the structures — will be present. In addition there are plenty of features we haven’t revealed yet. We’ve done our best to create a 1.7.10 experience that feels like newer versions of Minecraft. We are excited for everyone to experience all the new things we have to offer on this new map! when will it happen? Work on this new map is already underway, and we are making steady progress with development. While we are working quickly, we still are doing quality control to make sure everything is done correctly and to the best of our abilities. As we work, we will keep everyone informed as to our progress and potential release window. Until such a window gets narrowed down, you can expect the map to release in 2025. You can also look out for spoilers and trailers to come. Wrapping things up We hope this news is as exciting for you as it is for us, but, understandably, it might bring questions. A thread will be opened in the Discord for questions so if you think of any, ask there! The current map will still be alive and kicking while we work so you can continue playing on the server. We will also still be holding parties and events on the current map until the reset happens. This announcement is the first of many in the coming months, so be sure to follow along! |
